If You Apply For Student Loans, Do They Check Your Credit And What Grants Or Loans Are Available And Free.?
Hey there, it sounds like you really need information.
It depends on what kind of loan you’re applying for. Federal loans are designed to help students (i.e. people who don’t have good credit and may not be employed), so they don’t do credit checks. They also offer the lowest rates. More info on federal loans and how to get them here:http://www.tuitionbids.com/student-loan-…
Private loans, on the other hand, are used when federal loans aren’t enough to fund your education (since there are limits on federal loans). People tend to use these as a last resort, since legitimate lenders require you to have good credit or a cosigner and prefer if you’re employed (exact terms depend on the lender). Info on private loans including a financial glossary here:http://www.tuitionbids.com/student-loan-…
The company I represent, http://www.tuitionbids.com, lets you apply with up to 6 lenders using one application. The idea is that if a bunch of banks compete for your business, you’re more likely to get approved.
As for free grants and loans…I don’t think there’s such a thing as a free loan - you’ll always have to pay it back with some level of interest. The only widely available grant I know about is the Pell Grant, which is government-sponsored. You apply for it when you fill out the FAFSA, and you need to be low-income (your Expected Family Contribution on your FAFSA report needs to be below a certain cutoff - around $4000 I think) to qualify.
Hope all this helps!

How Much Might My Credit Score Go Up?
There is an old account showing up on my credit report that is actually paid off. I called today about having the bank send the updated info to the credit bureau.

How much can I expect my score to go up once these two updates go through? Any ideas?

How Will Not Paying Affect My Credit Score?
So I’ve recently had a spell of bad luck by way of getting into debt for stupid reasons. First off I recently had to go to the emergency room and ultimately have surgery without insurance and ran up a 16000 dollar hospital bill. Secondly I sold a car about a year ago and didn’t notify dmv of the sale so I got a bill for 1600 from a tow company today since I’m still the registered owner. I really can’t do much about it since I can’t find the bill of sale so I’m stuck with the bill. Anyways the hospital keeps sending me letters for the balance and probably will for some time. If I ignore both of these debts how will it affect my credit score? Am I better off claiming bankruptcy or doing nothing at all? Any input would be appreciated. Thanx
